Government Internet Data Center
The Government Internet Data Centre (GIDC) is the government owned server farm which established to provide server space to the government agencies to host their websites, for free of charge. This project is one of the successful initiative of Re-engineering government program of Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) This project is aligned with Government Web Development Project, which provides financial and technical assistance to government organizations to develop trilingual websites. Unicode fonts and trilingual content (Sinhala, Tamil and English) are mandatory requirement for all government websites.
GIDC servers support for both Sinhala and Tamil Unicode fonts and welcome Linux platform. GIDC hosts more than two hundred and fifty(250) websites. Web servers are equipped with necessary features to safeguard the government websites from various intruders. Redundancies at all levels, backup and disaster recovery are available.
If a particular government organization is interested in hosting their website on GIDC, we kindly request you to download the request form or fill the online request form and forward it to ICTA.
